1997 Chevy Dolphin - Advice Needed
Hi All,
I am new to the forum. My in-laws have a 1997 Chevy Dolphin 36' which is on a P30 chassis. I have been tasked on finding a missing part for them that appears to be discontinued with Chevy (Service Propeller Shaft Parking Brake Drum with Yoke). I am not at all familiar with RV's. I am finding it hard to believe that this part is not manufactured by someone else. Has anyone else dealt with this particular part and could point me in the right direction or give some advice if there is a work around. I need to get the RV moved to a permanent place where my in-laws will be living in it.
Thank you,
Denny

See here for the part from UltraRv.

I don't think you will like the price!
To be sure it is the correct part enter the VIN number of chassis. You should find it somewhere on the motorhome or on the license plate registration slip.

A p30 is a stepvan chassis,take the old one to junkyards and look around.It will fit for years,if they have Hollander interchange manual it should be easy.

Welcome to iRV2.com. I see you have already been directed to at least two sources of the part. I don't understand why you want to buy an expensive part if the coach just needs to be moved to a permanent parking place for residential use. For more info about the parking brake system (J71 AAPB), I always refer to AutoPark parking brake system help, troubleshooting, and repair It is a free resource.

Thank you everyone for the quick responses!
@edgray
I agree with you about buying an expensive part. My in-laws were gifted the RV and we checked on getting it towed to the permanent spot but the cost for that is more expensive than the part we need to purchase. My other thinking is that if the RV does need to be moved for whatever reason then we will be able to move it.
Thanks,
Denny

I understand your logic and repeating my suggestion to learn more about the J71 AAPB system because there are a bunch of other things that can and do go wrong costing more repairs. Visit www.rvautopark.com Good luck getting your in-laws settled.
