2000 P30 AutoPark brake drum removal

The other day I tried to remove the autopark drum to inspect the brake shoes and couldn't get the drum off. I dropped the drive shaft out of the way and then I removed the bolt in the center of the drum, then I pulled and pulled and it wouldn't budge. It rotates freely, but doesn't have any movement when I try to pull it off. I've attached a photo of the drum before I removed the center bolt. Do I need a puller? Let me know if you have any ideas.

Thanks!
Jon

I removed one on a 1994 P30. The hub in the center slides on to the splined output shaft of the trans. Mine came right off and the end of the output shaft was greased up pretty good. I guess a puller is your only option. Try to hook the puller to the hub where the u-joints attach. Don't think you can us the 4 bolts that hold the hub to the drum. You can't loosen them with drum on. The bolt will spin on the inside. Maybe you can attach a puller to the end of the bolts. Good luck.

removing parking brake drum

I second the suggestion about getting a puller. The single bolt in the center IS the one holding it on - - if you have it out, then the drum is just stuck and a puller should do the job.

auto park brake drum

This is directed to "OldUsedBear".
I had our autopark system fail while driving in the Rockies, so didn,t notice it come on while going down a long slope. I've rebuilt the brake assembly but the drum was badly overheated and warped. Had it machined but it is still out of round but also noticeably out of balance, so need a new drum. Ultra RV only sells the drum with the transmission yoke, for $950. I only need the drum as the yoke is fine. Is there a source of supply for the bare brake drum?
