After 55K+ miles and no mods. The only mod I have is the rear track bad. Over all MPG (gen use, pulling toad) is 7.5. Trips from TN to CA and no overheat problems. Changed SP's, fan belt and air filter @ 30K. Changed fuel filter 2 times just to be sure of clean fuel. New fuel filters, air cleaner on genset. Sorry, I only use dino oil. I try to keep the RPM down to appox 2150 and enjoy the ride.

Yes, those were the "good old days" when I thought hills and mtns did'nt affect the 8.1 engine temperatures like they did with my old 460 engine. That was before I got my new SG and new engine too. The SG is nice, it let's you know a little about what's going on with the engine, but when it's normal characteristics, there's not much you can do about it. I don't like to see the engine or transmission temps climbing over 200 or 214 but I have to keep going up the hill.
Any time I head east from Denver my engine pretty much never goes over 200* so I can understand why many people don't understand how hard a gas MH works in the mtns and altitude.
We gotta go to Corydon , IN in June so I'll get to have some of that power you guys have back there.
