I looked at one to today with the workhorse 7.4, will that unit have a "allison" 4 speed or is the the standard gm 4speed? the owner thought it was an allison but i'm not sure.

Now if the owner is correct and says that the Flair has an Allison then the motorhome has an 8.1L engine.

Check the 8th digit in the VIN#. A "G" is the 8.1L engine and a "J" is the 7.4L engine.

Most likely the tranny is a GM 4L80E.

My previous RV was a 2001 (FLAIR) 30 Ft-no slides. It was on a P-32 WH Chassis, with the 8.1 GM and a GM Transmission. Drove just like a pickup truck, just too small, traded for present RV after about 8800 miles

The 7.4L engine is a GM 454 V8 and the tranny that goes with it is a 4 speed GM automatic but not a heavy duty tranny from GM's Allison division.

I have the same motorhome. 2001 Flair 30H.

8.1 motor
GM 4L60E Transmission
Workhorse P32 Wide Track Chassis

According to the literature I have, The Allison is not available with this chassis.
