2004 Alegro Bay 37db brake warning light, jacks WH chassis.......

upon arrival, our jacks wouldn't come down (yes the emergency brake was on, and acc switched properly, called tiffen and they suggested testing the solenoid. Not being equiped to do that, I relied on a local repair man. He proceeded to replace the solenoid and still no power to the jacks. He then call HWH who told him it was missing a ground. So he proceeded to find a unconnected wire under the steering wheel that he connected and presto we had jacks.

This was fine until we had to leave, and upon starting up we heard the alarm go off for the emergency brake (which indicates emergency brke problems or brake failure according to the WH chassis manual). It braked fine so we went home. You can turn the alarm off manually, so we did that that for 6 hours, the buzzer only came on after we came to a stop.

Anyone have this issue? Seems like the wires might be crossed........tried cycling the brakes, same light on and alarm, does anyone know where the solenoid is on a 2004 Tiffen Allegro Bay 37db? Thanks

I can't offer an intelligent response because I am not at all sure about what is being described as a solenoid and crossed wires by the folks at Tiffin Motorhomes.

I have seen where the modular plug has worked loose of has fallen off the foot applied brake pedal. This will keep the jacks and slideouts from functioning properly.

The words, "local repair man" and "under the dash", makes me cringe a little. Either I will attempt a problem resolution or an Authorized Workhorse Service Center will have a go at it but not very people meet my litmus test in between.

upon further inspection.....

this is a pic of the brake switch(?), the male part is not hooked up (as you can see). Is this a ground that SHOULD BE hooked up?

This is what the brake light switch looks like. As you can see, it does have more than 1 wire. I'm not sure what you are looking at but it doesn't look like this. This switch is located near to the brake pedal.

Driver, the pic

IS the emergency brake switch, NOT the brake switch, do you know if that should have a ground from the male part of the switch in the pic?

I can confirm that there is only 1 wire attached to the brake switch. This wire provides a path to ground. With the brake released, a tab applies pressure to the plunger and this opens the ground circuit. When you press on the EBrake pedal, the tab comes off the plunger and the spring pushes the plunger out of the switch body which causes an internal connection to ground.

releasing my parking brake without keeping my foot on the pedal caused the wire to the switch to come off repeatedly. the banging was too much for this fragile switch.
