The Class A I'm looking at (2005 Bounder 34F) is on a 2004 W22 chassis...wondering who the factory installed shock(s) and tire(s) manufacturers would be? I'm presuming this would be done by WH, am I wrong? I know the tire size on this model is 19.5

GerryB54: Quoting from page 21 of the chassis guide: "Starting late production 2004 model year, a running change to custom tuned Bilstein shocks began and continues to be standard...."

IF you are sure it is a W-22, AND it has 19.5" wheels, then it has the optional Goodyear G670 RV-245/70/19.5 load range G tires. This would have been a Fleetwood specified choice because the W-22 came standard with 22.5" wheels and Michelin XRV tires.

BTW, all of this information (and a lot more) is available to you via a FREE download of the chassis guide using the highlighted post and link at the top of this forum. ED

Can anyone determine by the VIN number when in 2004 it was built or the shock manufacturer?

The WH warranty start date was 10/11/2004, and the unit was titled for the first time on 10/26/2004.

I also have a suspension # from WH of 63503917404009

If they are not Bilsteins, would I be better served to get "custom tuned" Bilsteins from WH for this model (if available)?

I would do what most of us do....replace your Bilsteen shocks with Koni shocks. I can't tell you how much more smooth the ride is with the Koni shocks. I threw the Bilsteens in the trash. Do a search for Koni shocks here and you will see what I mean.

Bud, That's what I replaced the original Ford OEM shocks with on my current Class C.

On this board they are the prevailing favorite replacement shock absorber.

Any WCC service center will change that clip free of charge for you. Call ahead and make sure they can see you and have them check to make sure that they have the clip in stock.

You can tell what kind of shocks you have by simply looking at them. if they are blue and yellow, they're Bilsteins.
