We were at Camp Monaco Wildwood last month for warranty work on our '07 29RBD Trek. When I looked under the hood of the coach next to ours (a later model 28RB2'07 Trek)I was shocked to see there were NO auxiliary electric fans! The head Tech said that Workhorse did away with those on the 07 and 08 W20's. What gives?

I think they finally figured out that you can't stack the A/C condenser, the tranny cooler and the oil cooler on top tof the radiator and expect it to cool everything. I think you will find the items now have some space between then and/or be relocated.

Hmmm, I wonder how their AC works in a traffic jam. Mine does'nt work very good at all in traffic jams even with both fans running but it does OK when I'm moving. Even tho they don't work that great, it seems like they should help.
I just put a switch on mine so I can turn them on without having the AC on, for when the engine may overheat.

Thanks for the quick replies guys! I sent my fellow traveler this link. Maybe he'll post his experiences with his upgraded system.

The A/C doesn't work very well in traffic jams on a hot day due to the A/C intake location. It starts sucking up engine heat as soon as you stop, causing the air coming out of the vents to go from cold to very hot almost instantly. No problem, just have to remember to use the Max A/C setting. Mine is a 2007 W20.

It was simple to tap into the fans.
Right in the middle where you can see the lt. bl. wire tap. You could also tap after the Y connection, right at one fan.
This is a 30 Amp switch from Wal Mart. It lights blue when I manualy turn the fans on and the green light in the middle comes on when the fans come on automaticaly or manualy. This way I know when they are working. They pretty much stay on when I have the AC on but once I ran a little hot and the fans never came on. Now I can turn them on.
The only position I use on the AC is MAXimum. It still blows warm when idling or barely moving.

The manual selection for the auxiliary cooling fans will only augment the main engine cooling fan which does the majority of the cooling tasks. I am not at all certain of the short or long term benefit of a manual switch however I will be observing Max's commentaries about the setup as he gets to use it more often.
Along with the redesign of the cool pack the main engine fan is why the new design works.
If a manual switch solution were an effective alternative we would see more definitive data about it but that information is not available.
..... and its not because someone came up with a better mousetrap.
