Hello, I have a concern with my 2008 adventurer
w24 chassis (2400 miles 550 I put on), and hope someone on the forum might give me some advice, I'll try to keep it short, I have taken my MH out twice, both times after about an hour into the trip I experience some strange noises from under the coach. I can't be sure if its suspension or spring related or brakes or who knows? It sounds like something is binding up and banging lose, just like there is some sort of nuts and bolts lose. I have crawled around under the coach twice and found nothing, except I did find on the 4 piece driveline that runs from trans to rear end that it is not even close to a staight line, its crooked side to side and up and down, also the last shaft has a spline that has a good 5 inches exposed, I am wondering how long this spling could be?
Do any of you knowelageable folks have any suggestions? I live near Sumner Washington, is there a good workhorse warranty shop in the area anyone can suggest? and lastly, is it common to hear a lot of spring noises after running these chassis a couple hunderd miles? seems like all is quite when the MH is cold Thanks ... Craig

IMO, no it is not. Have it checked. As to your description of the drive shaft, I can't imagine how you are not feeling a serious vibration if those conditions exist. My best advice is for you to call Mike at Brazel's. Here is a LINK If necessary, make the trip to Centralia. Good luck with your new coach. ED

Thanks Ed, I took your advice and talked with Mike at Brazels, oddly enough he told me the driveshaft is suppose to be a bit wavey and that a if it was perfectly straight that it would burn up the U joints, Guess thats why he is the expert. I am going to have him check it out along with installing yhe power pac programing, Thanks for the tip ...Craig

We have a 2005 W24 that the drive shafts look the same as you have listed yours. We have driven over 30K miles with the coach and have not had any problem with the driveline.

Hondo12,
I've had work done by several of the Brazel guys & I can highly recommend you have them do any chassis/engine work on your rig.
Brazel's has a nice area with full hook ups for their customers. So plan a little trip down to Centralia & enjoy your stay.
I had an annoying intermittent sound on my '99 Chieftain. I finally found it when my brother was driving on a long trip and I was able to go in the back where I could localize the area. Turns out it was the metal mud guard in front of the rear wheel well. Two minutes and one tie wrap took care of the problem. Also check the clearance between the mufflers and the heat shield. On my '04 it was too close & would rattle.
Good Luck,

Thanks for everyones reply's, this is a great forum everyone is very helpful. Since I originaly posted about the noise I have crawled under the MH checking and looking at things so many times I feel like I know this Chassis pretty well. I thought I had narrowed the clunk noise to a brake or wheel bearing or shock noise, remember the clunk only happens after driving several miles and basicaly when appling the brake, (kinda sounds like a bad shock bushing would sound)
anyway, today I decided to grease the whole front chassis and to my surprise, it seemed like every joint I greased was dry? I used almost a whole tube of grease. I also greased the brake lever arm on the fire wall also. I test drove it twice and no clunks or creaks at all! in fact the whole driving experience seems smoother and tighter than before.. hope I don't jenks it! sorry for the long post...Craig

Thanks Dave, I am going to take my rig to Brazels in Centralia this week for a reprogram, If this noise is back after the round trip I may be contacting you, there is nothing more frustrating than those creaks and clunks. so far a complete grease job and some penetrating oil on the nylon bushings between leaf springs has given me a good solid ride. Thanks again Craig

I had a simular noise and it was from the front leaf springs. I "hosed" them down with Castrol chain lube (for motorcycles) as it contained a graphite mixture. The noise went away. Oh - yes I did it with the front wheels lifted off the ground using blocks and the front jacks.
Hope this helps.

Check your spot welds on the horizontal heat sheilds that Winnie welds underneath the whole motorhome.
Mine made lots of popping noises and my dealer found several welds broken.
