The Interim Notice phase of the Workhorse voluntary brake recall is almost over.
I happened to come by this document which I thought that you may want to review.
It details the modifications that were applied to the caliper including how to identify the new
29502B Bosch Brake Caliper.
Note if you have the caliper in your hand you will be able to see a
"B" stamped or printed in the base of the piston. Note the date codes on the side of the calieprs as well. I understand the first date code was
0155A. Any code on the side of the caliper I expect will be dated after this first number which benchmarks the first of the "NextGen" calipers.
I've also taken the liberty to upload pictures of the new calipers for you to take a look at.
As we have seen the dealers are ordering the new calipers. Owners are already reporting that the new brake parts are being received and installed on customer coaches. The dealers are telling their customers that the letters are imminent and that is indeed the case as I understand it to be. Vehicles that are currently at delaerships are being repaired using the new calieprs.
We are all seeing that the Warranty Group has posted the 51101-C OPEN Campaign on all the vehicles that are effected by the recall. Basically if you have a 6 in the 6th digit of your VIN# "YOU" are a participant.
The campaign will not be truely official until you get the letter in your hand. It is expected that will happen very soon. We are almost out of the woods on this issue and closure is finally here.
There is no mistaking that Workhorse must be glad that they have received enough parts to do the campaign and that the dealers are ordering and stocking the new calipers and other parts.
I also want you to keep an eye on the BrakeResourceCenter because as new details are released this is where you will get the very best information.
