6,5 Diesel engine will not start!!
Hi Guys!
I have huge problems with my 2006 Damon Daybreak here in Sweden!
After I unfortunately over-charged my old starter batteries 2 weeks ago ,I canīt get the engine to start!
I replaced the batteries and experienced that the immobilizer(Cobra brand) malfunctioned. No function of the starter.
I removed the immobilizer installation completely and got the starter back, but the engine would not start.
I have no reaction of the fuel solenoid on the pump,no glowplug function and no fuelpump function.
There is 12 volt at the soleniod but no ground.
I have no wiring diagram for this chassie either.
I will deeply appreciate ANY suggestions what to do!
I have 175 miles to the nearest service facility for US made vehicles, and the insurence I have had since I bought the RV will not cover the transportation.

It would help if you identify year and make of engine. The glowplugs (or heat grid) are usually thermostatically controlled and unless temps are below about 50š F (10š C) they might not come on.
The fuel shut off and fuel pump sound like they might have been switched by the immobilizer and perhaps you're still missing a connection. You could try jumping the ground wires to the solenoid and the fuel pump directly to see if it will run. You may have to unhook the wires to stop the engine.

The chassie is 2004 .chevy 6.5L
The temp here is around 10C,so that is probably the case, but what is not normal is I don't get the "WAIT TO START ENGINE" that I used to see on the instrument dash before this occured.
I have 12 volt on the fuel shut off,but no 12 volt on the fuel pump.
I jumped the ground on the fuel shut off and hotwired the pump, but to no luck. Not even a slight puff of smoke,Its Complete dead.
I have checked the wires I unhooked from the immobiliser and to my knowledge they are correct.

Competent auto electrician should be able to analyse and fix the fault don't need a mechanic that specialises in US vehicles (apart from their weird wiring colours it's all pretty standard).

Those 6.5L's have a common failure of the PMD (Pump Mounted Driver) on the fuel pump. Do some google searches for PMD relocation kits and PMD failures to see if it matches up with your symptoms. I will check in the meantime to see if I can find a wiring diagram for you.

I've had a bunch of 6.5s. a bad pmd would still have a wait to start light and turn over etc... It really sounds like a basic "no power" situation somehow.

What I fear is that the engine control unit is damaged or some other hard to find component is toast.
ANY hint how to fix this is deeply appreciated!

Revisit that immobalizer wiring. What you describe sounds like no power to the engine systems. You need to find engine related fuses and see if any power is there with a multimeter. I am not familiar with your particular vehicle, sorry but I can't help locate things. If you're not very good with electrical basics you need to find someone who is. There's a chance that the immobilizer is more complicated than a simple power removal device that can be removed like that, you may want to call a dealer or search the internet to figure that out.
Sorry I can't be more help. From what you describe I doubt there's anything serious wrong, it's rarely something like a damaged ecu. Go back to basics.

I'm in agreement: a good diesel mechanic/auto electrician should be able to trace what is going on, just because it's an RV it's still just a diesel truck underneath, they only difference will be that the colour coding of the wires will be different to what they are used to.
