Well I just got the news today. The injection pump that has given me problems since I bought the RV has finally gone out. The dealer informed me that even though it has 45,000 miles (well within the 100,000 mile warranty) I am a few months past the 5 years. When I called Workhorse their response was that the district manager has the final say and since the dealer has already talked to him, I am out of luck. The bill will be $2700 and 2 weeks to fix it.
I have talked to dealers about the surging problem for years. Since it was an intermittent problem that never occurred while in the shop nothing was ever done. Now the engine will not start and if it does it will run 30 seconds and shut off not to restart.
Has anyone ran into this injector warranty issue before? Any suggestions on how to pursue this with Workhorse?

I'm thinking that if you have to pay for it you might want to shop around. A inj pump up my way is approx $1100 Canadian, removed, rebuilt on site and reinstalled and done in 1 day at a reputable diesel injection service shop.

Bob G,
Unfortunately you have a Stanadyne pump. That's the main reason GM stopped producing your engine. Check out Midwest Diesel's web site to get an idea what a replacement pump will cost your dealer.
There is good news in that you do have Bosch KCA injectors. As a retired Bosch diesel fuel system engineer, I may be a little bias. However, the replacement for your engine is the Durmax which has a total Bosch common rail injections system. In fact I was working with the GM power Train division on a replacement for the Syanadyne distributor pump when Detroit decided to dump the 6.5L InDirect Injection for the new DI common rail engine. Assuming that you will be getting a new pump, including labor, $2700 sounds pretty good. Just be thankful you don't have to replace an inline pump like those used on the 90's Cummins engines. The pump alone is more than your total estimate.
