I have been waiting for a xguage code update so I can read the temp of the 6 speed Allison trans . I have contacted Scanguage and they say they are working on it . I would hope Workhorse and all the Parties involved would cooperated to provide crucial temp info for US Motorhomers as we climb the Western Mountains.

Scanguage 2 will provide the temp on the 5 speed Allison Trans, So it can be done . The 6 speed have been out in Gas chassis for 4 years so this in not a new issue. ? is the Customer Being Served!

If anyone knows what Code protocol Allison Uses I would appreciate it.

Thanks

The 5 speeds us GM VPW protocol and the 6 speeds use the CAN protocol.

I have also been working with Linear Logic and here is what I have.

Allison TFT 6 SP
TXD 07E2221940
RXF 046205190640
RXD 3008
MTH 00090005FFD8
NAME AT6

If you want, you can try 07E0 then 07E1 then 07E2 so on up to 07E9 it is possible that your sensor is "located" in a different part. The 4th digit is part of the location to find the information.

Omey,

Thanks for the info on the Scanguage11 temp readout for the Allison 6sp .
I'll try it the next time out and report back as to my results.

One other change you may try along with the E0 - E9 change.

RXF 000462051906

This is the original receive string off the SG II web site.

I have installed the codes in the Scanguage2 provided by Omey with no success. I have a June 08 Workhorse chassis build date with the Allison 6 Speed. My scanguage was purchased in 2008. I entered the following in the xguage table #24 named AT6.

TXD 07e2221940 changing the 4th -e0 thru e9
then changing RXF to
RXF 000462051906
repeat the TXD 4th e0 thru e9

If there are new codes to try let me know.

Has anyone had success in obtaining the Allsion 6sp Temp data readout on the Scanguage2 Xguage??

Thanks Omey for you suggestions

I spoke to Linear Logic and we will have to get a coach with a 6 sp under test with an advanced scanner that can access the enhanced PID codes and is able to send commands to.

I am starting to think that the Allison 4th generation controls arent wired into the odbII connector. You have to wire up directly to the Allison connector for access.

True.. but neither is the previous version per se. You can access the TCM via the OBD 2 port using Enhanced PID Codes.

GM uses VPW (Variable Pluse Width Modulation) to communictae to the ECM. So, a command to the ECM to get the Air Fuel Ratio is 6C10F122119E. This breaks down to 6C10 = Send the command to the ECM, F122 = is the mode and 1119E = AFR PID.

Now the Allison 5 speed command goes something like this, 6C18F1221940. This breaks down to 6C18 = command to the TCM, F122 = mode and 1940 = transmission PID code.

But the Allison 6 speed uses CAN (Controller Area Network) protocol and the command goes something like this, 07E2F1221940. This breaks down to 07E2 = command to the TCM, F122 = mode and 1940 = transmission PID code. The key to this is 07E2 part... and what the TCM returns to that command.

Clear as mud...

Kinda like flying a plane Max... remember you told me pull the stick back and you go up... Well, enter the right bits and you get the Tranny Temp. Enter the wrong bits you crash and burn.
