Ok, I have an Rvision trail-lite 26 foot class A RV. It's a 2003 P series Workhorse chassis. I routinely tow a 26' sailboat with no issues what so ever. The boat trailer has surge brakes and a 4-way flat plug.

I now need to tow flatbed trailer that has electric brakes and a 7-way blade connector.

I have no idea where to begin. I don't know if the RV has a plug like a pickup truck to accommodate the brake controller...I'm not sure what to look for to tell.

I'm pretty comitted to wiring this myself. What is the best kit for all of this?

Any tips would be greatly appreciated.

Ya know, I just hate it when I typo the header....

Here is my suggestion:

Get a flat-4 plug to match the flat-4 on the righ now, the pins on the flat 4 are "odd pin" ground, then tail light, then left and right turn (I think right is the last one so test those)

Now get a 7-pin

run the brake control and battery charge (put a breaker on that one, self-resetting) to it, and hook up the flat 3 plug you got to the other 4 needed lines (yes I know this leave one pin not used) and your job is done

Use "Blub grease" on the flat 4 by the way

Adavntages this method: You can pull either trailer, just make and break the adapter connection (Flat 4) to switch trailers

Thanks, I think I'm going to do exactly that. I saw U-haul (I hate those people..long story) has an adapter that plugs in to my 4-way flat and has the 7-way plug with the appropriate wire leads that I can run forward to make the correct tie ins. And like you said, I still have the ability to tow my trailer that needs the 4-way flat.

Is this the kind of thing you're talking about? Please confirm, you seem VERY knowledgeable and I really appreciate your input.

Does the U-Haul adapter have a brake control and/or battery charge wire (I see it does)

That looks like a good way to go, though it would not be hard to build your own if you wished either
