today I bought a new ACDelco PF454 (25324052)"Duraguard" oil filter to do my every 3,000 mile ritual. This filter has changed. It is different in two ways. Slightly shorter than previous editions with several more holes in the plate, and both the box and the filter itself says "Product of USA". The retailer had two of the older style I have become used to (slightly taller) and those boxes said "Made in Mexico". The same cup wrench fits both filters. FWIW, the price was $3.68 each. I bought the USA version. ED

Ed,

My question is. Why did AC Delco have them made in Mexico in the first place? There even the same price. See ya in Tucson.

Ed, why not take a sample and send in for analysis?? Drain a quart or two, then take a sample and send to Blackstone.

Some have already posted their analysis and a larger database of analysis would be interesting.

GM and Ford do lots of manufacturing in Mexico and Canada. My old 1994 Ford F-53 chassis was manufactured in Mexico, much to my surprise when I looked at the manufactures ID plate. I read where GM sells more vehicles outside the USA than in the USA.

Advanced Auto Parts, a national retailer chain I believe. That's their regular price, not on "sale". I was remembering $3.88 as the price in the past. But, they more than made up for the slight decrease on the new filter because they charged me almost $37.00 for a 12 QT case of Castrol 5W30 GTX which "used to be" less than $26.00 / case. OUCH! ED

The Workhorse Owners Club, a chapter of FMCA, is holding our "Western" rally beginning 4-15-08. You can learn more about it, and the club, at www.wcmc.workhorse.com and also in the club forum down in the RV Lifestyle section right here on iRV2. ED

Spaking of the Rally in Tucson the latest Door Prize list includes 3 or 4 GPS units, a Fuel Filter adapter, and a Set of 6 Alcoa Wheels and a whole lot more.
