So what engine is going to replace the Chevy 8.1 in the W series motor home chassis fcrom Workhorse? Will it be the Navistar MaxxForce 7 6.4L TT? Or will it be a Chevy 6.2L Vortec 400 HP gas engine? What say you? Chuck/Bagman57

I believe there was some talk that 8.1L engine production may have been perpetuated for some time had the deal gone through however that doesn't seem to be the case at this point.

We do know that 8.1L engine production is going to be terminated in Tonawanda in 2010 because the plant is under going extensive renovation. I believe that a small block GM diesel used for LTs is scheduled for production at the Tonawanda facility if I've read my "Press" correctly.

I hear they are going to outsource the engine and this is what they are going to put in the new UPFO. P stands for Powerful

powerful diesel

In another article on this engine, it runs at 50% thermal efficiency which is quite a bit higher than a normal gas engine. So it is not only powerful but really efficient too.
