8.1l cam position sensor update from 2002 to 2004 + version

So I bought all of the parts OEM to do the update but I'm not sure how to do the wiring. I was told to match the a to a b to b and c to c but I don't have an ABC on my connector. I started with a 2002 setup and bought all the parts for a 2005 setup.

No clue what "update" you're referring to. Perhaps move this into the Workhorse forum?

Will do. Incase someone is searching though. The 2004+ units used a different cam timing gear, cover, and sensor that was less prone to failure.

So if mine is an 04 (mfg 03/2004), can I assume that it already has the newer setup?

I checked the web for the 8.1 cam sensor looks like only the 2002 and 2003 are effected run your vin by the Allen Sanders Ultra products under the workhorse site. It show only the 2002 and 2003.

Are you doing the update because of problems or just as preventive maintenance?
