8730 trouble free miles

Just back from our making memories 2012 adventure.
Northern NY to Orlando, Nashville, St Louis, Denver, Delta, Co.
Vancouver WA, Salt lake, Las Vegas, Hoover dam, across I40,
Then NE to St Louis, Columbus. Oh, Finally Back home to NNY.
WH ran absolutely perfectly never skipped a beat.
In fact in the start it was loosing a quart of oil every 1200 miles.
in the last half (after an oil change) it was a quart every 2200 miles.
It's wet around the rear main seal.
Would have liked more "power" in the mountains,
but it gave me a chance to "glance" at the scenery.
Avg mpg is right around 8.5.
Gas was as cheap as $2.879 in Ok and up to $3.899, New York of course.
We had a fast trip but, we have a nice idea of places to visit when we do our next trip
Now to get unpacked and winterized then tucked away till "next Time".
Keith

Hey Keith, thanks for the positive report on the Workhorse/8.1. So many forum posts pertain to troubles it's easy to forget that many trouble free miles are experienced.

I'm thinking about a Michigan to San Diego and back trip for my daughters wedding but my wife is a little hesitant about such a long trip for an important date. I'll ask her to read your post.

Mike,
Add some extra time to your plan in case.
This time of year weather was the challenge.

I definitely have some pm work to do in the spring.
Looks like po did a decent job looking after things.

I didn't "worry about",but was concerned if we did have issues.

Mike, we live in Southern California and have made an annual trip to the Milwaukee area for the past eight years. My wife is originally from Milwaukee and her daughter, grandkids and great-grandkids still live there. Never any problems with the Workhorse chassis. Runs like a top. You may encounter minor coach problems like thinks shaking loose or a water leak here and there, but nothing to really worry about. This past summer, after Milwaukee we continued east to Gettysburg, Washington DC, Williamsburg and Pigeon Forge. Over 6000 miles and no problems.

It's the only way to travel.

Keith, You can count on your Workhorse to continue delivering good performance if you take care of it. I have just clocked over ~97,500 miles and the rig and engine are running very well in fact almost like new.

Keep it up and enjoy your rig!

54,970 at the end.
Some routine stuff to tackle: belt, hoses, coolant, check plugs.
Maybe t stat. it ran consitently 204 degree f wt. 50-60 degree o/s air.
195-198 down hill
"once I get it out" (literally, backed it unto a
crushed stone pad I had prepared... well the north side of the pad
wasn't as prepared as I thought.) OOPS, It's only in a little bit. LOL
The farm boy in me does know when to stop.
Once we get some more frost it ought to come out on it's own.
