97 Chevy P30 Auto Park Brake
I need to find parts for the mechanical side of my auto park brake. Our mechanic has the hydraulics working but the brake is so bad our manually set parking brake goes to the firewall and will not hold.

I think you need to follow the adjustment procedure for your AutoPark.

Leesdx, I will look into that. The mechanic advised he would try to find the hardware as the old shoes were worn down too much for adjustment to help. We are heading across country and it has been in and out of repair shops from OKC to Flagstaff. He replaced the switch I ordered online while in OKC and had it delivered to a Chevy Dealer in Flagstaff. Only problem is the Chevy dealer doesn't work on Class A's and referred us to Bellemont Truck Repair. They were great folks and we were able to get right in and out in just a few hours. Our Auto Park light on dash is dark again when we shift out of park.

97 Chevy P30 Auto Park Brake
Mill supply.com and ultrarv.com are your best bet to find parts for AAPB.
Do you have BOTH auto and foot applied PB ???
Also, suggest you visit the Chevy/Workhorse chassis forum here on iRV2 for all your chassis issues.

I remember when I was a kid, my dad was a mechanic, he'd take brake shoes to a brake shop and they'd reline them in order to use the same shoe. A couple years ago down in Mexico I had my AutoBrake shoes relined so it's still done, at least in Mexico.
So, maybe check around brake shops in your area to see if anyone relines brake shoes? An older shop would be the best bet I'd imagine.

Looks like you need to email oldusedbear, he"s the expert on autopark issues. He will get your autopark working correctly. Can't thank him enough for all the free help and education.

edgray it does have both auto and manual parking brakes plus a rock behind or in front of the tire. Lol
We just arrived in Needles, CA about an hour ago and as we pulled into the RV park I could feel the brakes or a brake not releasing somewhere. I will get to investigate that in the morning.
I emailed oldusedbear but have not heard back from him yet. Thanks for all the tips so far.

I can't imagine how the DS mounted brake could be applied by BOTH methods, so I assume the foot-applied method must apply the rear brakes. If both of these parking brake applications are suspect, then I hope you have several big rocks. Kinda like wearing a belt and suspenders...you can't be too careful
If Roger does not reply to you soon, try sending him a second email-sometimes he does have problems with email getting thru.

My '94 Adventurer had both. The cable from foot pedal goes to same DS brake. The HWH jacks would not operate unless the foot brake was applied even with MH in park and autopark brake applied.

Please help me understand how that works. If the HYD unit is trying to release the brake, but the foot-applied cable is still applying the brake, which one wins. IOW, does the PB brake still keep the coach from rolling?

I can't answer you. All I know is putting it in Park set the autopark brake. HWH jacks would not work unless foot brake engaged. However, did not need foot brake to hold vehicle in place. I know foot brake cable runs to the same DS brake drum. I let my mechanic take care of it.
By the way, he became my mechanic when I stopped in his shop and asked if he worked on motorhomes. He asked what I had and as soon as I said '94 Adventurer, he said you have the autopark brake which may be trouble. Knew right away I had a good mechanic.
