2004 Newmar WC.
Why does it take 20 miles before the dash air starts to blow cool? It NEVER gets cold at the vents. The coach has been taken to two WC dealers and I'm being told it's OK. There is no hot water problem. When the coach was new I never had this problem. Now with 12,000 miles on the odo it just will not get cold.
Any ideas????

Mine has never got as cold as my other vehicles. It's just barely acceptable, as long as I'm moving pretty good. In a traffic jam, I have to turn it off because it blows warm in a few minutes.
I guess it's the best they could do.

My 2001 W22 works the same so it's been a problem since build 1 and probably will be forever.

If you look at the A/C box you probably will find the openings in the air box are at the bottom of the box and open to engine heat. Thus when you are in slow traffic you are drawing in 110 to 120 degree air. If you have a 20 degree differential temp you will see 80 degree air coming out of the vents. Switch to max air and you will recycle the air already in the coach.

I topped mine off (it was a touch low) and I get plenty cold air in normal A/C mode. But, I switch max air anytime I get into slow moving traffic.

It should be noted that you can blow up a compressor if you overfill the system. This can be very expensive to fix ($1500). So, if you have never done this before, get a pro to do it.
