In my opinion, in the last several months, the postings and replies on this forum have greatly improved. It has gone from a majority of bickering, bashing, and innuendos to, being a very technically informative and problem solving forum. This is what I expected when I joined. I never thought everyone would be pleased and in agreement, though most of the problems and and discontents are now stated concisely, and solutions offered in a respectful manner.
The new products, tips, and shortcuts discussed here are very informative and give me the opportunity to weigh what options are available to me. The installation tips and pictures provided by members are extremely beneficial for anyone doing a DIY installation.
I wish to thank all who participate in this forum, moderators, ambassadors, venders, and members for all the information I gather and hoard from here.
Thanks to all
George

I'd really enjoy that but I work nights. 1 year to retire.

I like this forum because it's loaded with useful information, valuable tips, and civilized members. If I want bickering, bashing, and innuendos, a visit my relatives.

Jack, we must be related, cause I have the same type of relatives as you! I don't visit them often either.

I completely agree. The time I spend here is, as one TV networks says, "time well wasted." Well, wasted is the DW's view. Where else would I have learned about plug wires and plugs, fuel filter adapter, driving techniques, Ultra Power tune, etc, etc. Let's keep helping each other.

One thing that has changed is the forum host software. In the old days I could choose to read JUST the forums I'm most intersted in, Workhorse and Damon, and skip the rest. Now I'm given all the topics in IRV2 which have new posts.. This means I'm now posting in several forums where I never posted before.
It also means several are posting in Workhorse who never posted there before.
Many of those are folks, who I know from other places, who are very helpful and who usually give good info.. Hence the change in in attitude. The flamers and bickers are being drown out by the folks with good, helpful info.
Another issue is there has, in the past, been a lot of bickering over 2 significant issues. I won't name them least I re-start a flame war, but both of those "Wars" have ended. Making it a lot nicer here.

At least two of the worst offenders are gone.
I agree the information exchange has improved significantly in recent months.

I agree w/Wa8yxm- the software upgrade significantly improved cross pollination. I've learned many new things outside the Alpine forum, includeing WH, Monaco, CC, etc., and have enjoyed the non-Alpiner's informing us of their experiences. Sometimes off-mfgr advice isn't useful due to differences in design, but it makes you think which is usually a good thing.

It's nice to hear this feedback about the "mood" improving here on iRV2. Our team of volunteer moderators has been talking about and trying to foster a more respectful community. Most people don't realize how many behind the scenes PMs it takes to keep things pointed in the right direction. I am sure I can speak for most iRV2ers in saying thanks to our volunteers for their efforts!
Interestingly enough, other RV resources have also noticed. Here's a snippet posted yesterday over at RVersOnline.org:
Quote:
RVer Online Forums: For some years now online discussion groups comprised of owners of the same brand of RV have been growing in size and importance. At first many of these groups seemed more focused on "complaints" than on constructive discussion. That's changed significantly as these discussion groups have matured. In an era where manufacturers are all to often now "out of business", these forums provide a unique and valuable resource for RV owners. A good example of such forums can be found at the "iRV2" website. If you haven't visited there yet, we'd recommend you have a look-see....
|
Our goal is not to snuff out negative comments, simply to request that our members present their issues in a respectful manner. Together we make or break iRV2 and it's nice to see we are taking the high road.
