Well, it's been two years or so since I added
USP Mineral Oil to my Coach Batteries.

The results?

They still work flawlessly. No white-ish junk
on the battery posts and cables. A clean battery
slide-out. Nothing at all bad. I have not added
any water.

I did this on a wild-hair episode..and I AM
amazed at the results.

Holy smokes!

Joe--
You jumped in at 4 minutes flat!!

The basic idea is to stop the BIG bubbles from
forming in the battery cells and popping acid
all over your battery tops and battery case...

1. Buy mineral oil
2. pour into holes on top of battery
3. don't "overfill"

OK..buy USP 100% Pure Mineral Oil from the
drug store...buy brand new, clean, squeeze
bulb turkey baster from the Dollar Store...
a shot glass...
clean glass Quart Jar...use rubber gloves and
eye protection + long sleeves...use baster and withdraw acid/distilled water fluid from each
battery cell until you cannot pull up any more...put the withdrawn battery liquid into the
clean glass jar and set it aside...level in each
cell will be down to the top of the plates inside...pour one shot glass of the mineral oil
into each cell (for 6-volt bateries you need more)..the idea is to create an oil blanket above the battery water level...then...using the
baster, top off each cell to the full/ring line
from the contents of the glass jar...
afterwards the battery water/acid mix does not
create large bubbles, it foams a bit, millions
of tiny micro-bubbles while charging...it does
not foam over, nor does it mess up the cables,
the battery tops and the tray they sit in...
all the liquid seems to stay right in the battery...and, yes, it WILL void your battery
warranty...but, just like the 180* t-stat trick, who's to know??
