First, let me say THIS IS NOT ANOTHER BRAKE CALIPER PROBLEM.

My W-22 has had ABS problems for over a 18 months. I have taken it to our "local" Workhorse service center and left it there for 4 MONTHS whild they played with it. First the left rear wheel speed sensor was bad; they replaced it. Next the right rear; they replaced it. Then the left front. This time they called Wheelhorse (supposedly) and waited over a month before they called me to say I could pick it up because Wheelhorse had not gotten back with them, but they would let me know what the results were. This was over a year ago and I haven't driven it much since.

The brakes are fine most of the time. On the road, press the brake pedal, get results. In traffic, however, press the pedal and get the antilock feature of gliding to a stop. SCARY!

Any ideas for me????

djohn, There remains a bad speed sensor.

My problem was exactly that when I was traveling very slow and applying the brakes in a normal manner. I would get an ABS pulse for about the last 1 or 2 seconds before the vehicle came to a complete stop.

This was determined to be a bad wheel speed sensor. I replaced all 4 sensors at the same time, and the issue has not presented it self again. The ABS warning lamp is OFF.

There is certainly no need to sit in a dealership for all that time and still have no resolution. Please make sure you "Rate the Dealer" on the Workhorse website and give them lousy marks if they deserve it.

Alan Stegich, the National Service Director, gets all of those evaluations on his desk. If your dealer excels then he also want to know that as well.

People that use the service centers and do not rate the dealership sort of leaves them in a limbo and they just never get any type of rating at all.

So good, bad or indifferent - "Rate the Dealer!"

As a temporary measure you can totally disable ABS on most vehicles and do so very simply.. The only tool you need is... YOUR FOOT.. yes foot

Simply press the brake pedal and hold it while starting the vehicle and for 30 seconds after the releasing the start switch (key) The ABS light will stay on, alarms will sound, but the ABS will be disabled till the vehicle is re-started.

This does no harm, and will not void warranty

To re-enable ABS.. Shut off and re-start w/o touching the brake pedal

Note you can press the breakes immed after the engine catches too.. That's when the ABS is testing the switch

Just for info---

Had a fellow in the park we're in now, in a Pace Arrow and he was getting an intermittent ABS light. Another fellow said "have you checked your brake fluid lately?" He said "No". They checked the fluid level and found it low. Added fluid and all is well now---
