I have a Workhorse W22 2003 with the 8.1L on a Tiffin Allegro Bay 36ft coach. Chassis build date is 11-14-02. Where is the ABS controller located???? I know that the modulator is on the left frame rail. Also, Does this have version build "D" or "E"??? Publications I have located states it can be a Cab mount or Frame mount most likely on the right side. I cannot find it. Any Ideas???

Many thanks in advance

John

Just so you know... Odds are you know how to drive without ABS. if the light is on the system is off.. Just drive as you were taught back in the pre-abs days and you should be OK.

ABS is currently working fine. I want to check system history codes by selecting a specific pin to ground. this should flash the codes through the IP icon.

Just follow the brake lines and you will find it. All brake lines go through it. I believe mine is located on the driver side frame rail.

That is the modulator. I am trying to find the ECM / Controller for the modulator. My understading that they are two separate units.

Happy Motoring

On modern OBD-II engines the ABS codes are sent to the OBD connector.. However not all OBD readers can read ABS.... At least that is what I was told.. Mine can not read ABS, only engine.. Look for one with a switch to read ABS codes, and make sure they guarantee it will read them.

My computer pgm will not read ABS. Just all engine diagnostics and is somewhat bidirectional. Also, I can see if a particular cylinder is currently misfiring or had a history of misfire. If I find the ABS controller, there is a specific pin that can be jumpered to ground that, using the ABS icon, will flash the codes on the instrumen panel. If I am sucessful, I will share the results with the rest of the forum.

The service centers use a Tech II to scan and read all errors and DTCs with the ABS system on Workhorse chassis.

On mine the modulator system appears to be underneath and attached to a module that I would guess to be the ABS ECM. That module has a large bundled cable plugged into it. This is what got replaced on mine several years ago and was described as an ABS ECM.
