Hey folks... Good News and Bad News from the Workhorse Rally.

Good News - They think they have the software fix for the cluster reset problem. You know, the chimes go off, the guages go nuts and then everything returns to normal.

Bad News - The fix is by year and not all are ready.

They have loaded the code on some coaches here at the WCMC. Mostly 2005's.

But my 2005 (2004 WH W22 chassis) hasn't had any Actia problems!

I just had mine replaced a month ago. I hope they put the fix in this refurbished one. When I asked the tech. at Actia about this problem, he had never heard about it? I don't what to go through that ordeal again of having my cluster replaced!

Dale could you ask Workhorse representative if the problem of "pixel dropout" is being addressed as well as the above problem with the Actia cluster. This is what disabled the two previous clusters on my motorhome. They became unreadable.

Dale, will this be a "voluntary" recall (eg- if I got the problem, I can go get it fixed/updated)? Or will it be mandatory and appear as a needed item for my coach on the WCC website? (I already did the prior Actia recall 50402-C in July '05).

Hi Dale, my display has been fading for some time now and it's getting real difficult to read the mileage. Guess it's time to contact Actia to see what they can do...
Do you know anyone with Actia that would be a good contact..

Thanks, Jack

dieselclacker,
The pixel dropout is a separate issue and probably not addressed with the "cluster reset" problem.

troth,
I would suspect that this would be a voluntary recall as it is NOT a safety issue per si as the cluster returns to normal operation after the reset.

huskyjack,
If you have had it replaced before they contact the dealer that fixed it. Otherwise contact Workhorse and lastly Acita.

Jack,

You should first contact your local workhorse service center to see if they will get in contact with their Regional Service Manager to see if workhorse will cover the replacement of your Actia display.

Jack, Contact Workhorse first, they may or not cover your display. They covered mine but I did have a open recall on it for the ABS. Otherwise call Actia & they might be able to help. They do have a special Workhorse number.

Is this a software fix to mask a hardware problem?

I noticed that my cluster was having pixel drop out on certin rows and colums. This has been happening for a year or more but very minor and got worse this summer. I talked with Work Horse last month when I was 4 months out of warranty. My fault. In a very abrupt and somewhat condensending manner the Rep said it's out of warranty you know, take it to a WH dealer and we can probly help you. I called the dealer and he said yes they will help you on the cluster cost but not the $130.00 labor we charge.

I called Actia, they were very nice and helpfull and said they will fix it for $100 plus shipping even tho it's out of warranty. They also indicated it's no big deal to remove and replace, less than an hour normally. They are working on their problems and if I care to wait it's fine with them and also thats their on going price for reprogramming and repair.

Well rather than dealing with WH by driving to the nearest WH dealer and leaving it for a week I'll do it myself.

My fault, I missed the warranty period by being on vacation this summer. Good for you WH, shame on me. Sometimes you just give up.

Pat
