That price sucks. Do you at least get a warranty? If so, for how long.

For what it's worth. I talked with Actia a few weeks ago in regards to my pixel drop out and ask what can they do for me as I'm out of Warranty by 5 months. They said I have two options;

1. Notify WH and see what they will do. Long story short, I prefer not to deal with them unless it's a BIG BUCKS difference.

2. Send it to us, Atcia, and we will fix it for $100.00 plus shipping. I said I may wait for awhile since it's really not that bad and would that be OK? They said sure, anytime I felt like it. On going price. 7 screws and normally about 1/2 hour to remove and replace. They seemed to think their option was the no-brainer and would be cheeper and quicker than the WH solution.

PS, WH told me in no uncertain terms I would have to take the MH to a WH dealer and verify I was correct in that it has pixel drop out and then schedule an appoitment and the dealer said leave for a week. Probably a couple of 70 mile round trips. THEN WH will make a decision on how much if any they could help. "It's out of warranty you know," We'll see what we can do.

The dealer said in their experience WH may cover the ACTIA but not their dealers apx. $150.00 labor charge but they could not tell me for certian up front what the exact cost would be.

Workhorse came accross as though they couldn't care less about my problem as they had better things to do. I'm sure they are very busy folks.

Also, I asked if they ever read the iRV2 WH Chassis forum pertaining to problems with the Chassis? This was the 2nd time in a year I had asked them this question and to para phrase, they replied, "do you think we have time to read that stuff." Sad. Oh-well?

Pat

OH! I just remembered I wanted to ask this question. Has anyone, as requested by WH, to leave a message and they will get back to you? I have and they haven't. Have you? Did they?

There, I feel better now. Hate to keep that stuff locked up inside me.

Yep, that's pretty sad alright.
And do you think they care about getting 'repeat customers'?
You'd think they would, considering the whole industry relies on a relatively small pool of customers, but they don't seem to see it that way. Did they also tell you that they had never heard of that problem before?
Did Actia actually say how to remove it yourself and send it to them. For $100 , I would rather do that than deal with WH and their svc cntrs too.

What happened to the $335.00 price you quoted in your first post? ED

Yea Max, Actia did but I didn't go into detail. They said it was about a 1/2 hour job normally and it involved removing "7" screws. I need to get more info on access to the "7" screws. Actica led me to believe it was not a big deal. However, every box builder's dash access is differen't.

Given that this option does indeed seem to be a "no brainer", you have to wonder why the OP did not avail himself of this option. ED

It would be nice if we could share ' how to remove this puppy'. We're all in this together cause we all have the Actia IP, and we know it does'nt last forever, or even very long sometimes.
Maybe our friend, OEMy, would consider putting some removal, reinstall instructions on his website. Hmmm, that would be great. What do ya think, Dale?
We may as well get used to doing it.

Guys, this removal is not rocket science. Depending on your coach's dash configuration, you will need to remove the screws holding whatever is covering the Actia IP. Then remove the screws holding the IP in place. As you remove it, by pulling it towards you, you will see the wire harneses plugged into the back of the IP. Simply unplug it and reverse the process to re-install. ED

Ed,

On my Newmar Mountain Aire it was a 5 min job. But, I had planned to do MikeT's at MB and we would had to take the dash apart on his Winnie.

If my Atcia Gauge fails, I will expect Workhorse to replace it for free, especially when there are known problems with this display for several years now.

Dale, what all comes out? Is it just the little rectangle where the odometer is or is it the whole IP? Will the engine still run with it out? What all is lost with the Actia part missing?
Did you take any pictures, of your work, when you took your IP out?
Actia obviously has a monopoly on these so we better be nice.
Somebody really took advantage of K9 Dave , for $600

On Edit, I see that ED Gray has done this removal too. Did you take any pics ED?

Oemy is correct. On a Winnie, a good portion of the dash face needs to be removed before you can gain access to the IP.

The entire IP gets replaced, and no one has said if it runs without the IP, but I've never seen the IP in place on the chassis driven out of the assemby plant. ????

Maybe it runs, but since no mileage logs on the IP, we aren't told it can be done.
