adding oil to rear end

Do you add oil untill it runs out the plug hold. I 'm using the recommend oil, mine seems a bit low.

That is the normal practice, however I recently did the fluids in my car & the manufactured recommended rear end level was 1/2" below the fill hole. I am assuming this is for your Workhorse Chassis as you don't say in your post. There should be some info online if you search for it.

If you stick your finger in it and it gets wet , You're good to go.

The wheel bearings are lubricated by the rear-end oil, so keep it near the fill hole. On my P29 It gets filled till it runs out.
