I'm either crazy or blind, but I see no way to add transmission fluid to my W22/Vortec 8.1/Allison 1000 transmission except through the dipstick tube...there's no fill tube like there is for the engine oil?

Workhorse did a mediocre job IMHO placing these dipsticks and oil fill tube...not the easiest location/angle to add engine oil...and getting transmission fluid down the dipstick tube won't be any picnic either...

Where do you fill your car's transmission fluid?

I'm fairly certain my Class Cs w/Ford 460 V-10 engines had both a transmission fill tube/cap and a dipstick tube...but maybe I'm confused?

They make a nice plastic funnel at the parts store for filling a Trans. Every vehicle I have owned always fill through the dip stick tub. Must be a Chevy thing.

If you look in the following photo you will see a yellow and red dip stick... The red is is the tranny and you fill there.

I don't recall ever seeing another place to add tranny fluid, other than the dipstick hole, on any gas powered vehicle,... which isn't the problem, usually. It's trying to see the proper level on the dipstick while the engine is hot and running and then trying to make sure that you don't overfill it.

Go to a 99 cent store and get a turkey baster works great for filling trans and keep in a plastic bag for later date also for battery fill

Funny, I thought about the turkey baster...used a funnel with the two foot tube on it...got the quart in slowly by filling the funnel and carefully raising it up above the fill tube inside the engine compartment...what a PITA...

The easiest and cleanest way to add transmission fluid is with a garden sprayer. I got mine at Lowes for about $8. Cut the spray nozzle off so the fluid will come out faster. Real handy if you change your own tranny fluid, put in 3 or 4 quarts of fluid, pump it up and do something else while it goes into the tranny.
