I believe the compressors are made by Delphi.

Ron55, The compressor clutch bearing can be replaced. The old GM tools work on the Delphi compressor. Make sure the clutch gap is reset to original. Not that hard to do and no freon loss.

My clutch bearing started making noise on my return from Maine last week. Since I am leaving to head south shortly I took it to a guys shop near my home place. He tried to remove the clutch but it was frozen in place.

He found a new compressor/clutch for a S-10 Blazer that was an exact fit. The expansion valve, the part under the hood where the Freon hoses attach, was also bad. I found one of these devils (for a '89 Jeep Cherokee) on the shelf at Auto Zone, part #758901, for $11. I'll get the compressor part number and location of purchase next week and update this thread.

Okay-- Here is the skinny on the part numbers. I'm also giving them to Oemy for his list of parts--

CarQuest part number for the A/C compressor/clutch assembly.

#271569 -- Delphi, S-10 Blazer, brand new. List price $873.

AutoZone part number for a A/C expansion Valve.

#157743 758901 -- '89 Jeep Cherokee, $11.
