Air filter on a Workhorse p32 chassis.

I found the air cleaner tucked up under the right front tire on the HR but removed to hasps and it still didn't come out. Do I have to remove the hose to get to more hasps.Click image for larger version

It's been years since I did the , air filter in my B-in-L's Workhorse chassis , but if memory serves , you have to remove the rear clamp and wiring on the Mass Air Flow sensor , disconnect the duct work that runs to the top of the engine , flip the three clips on the top , then rock the plastic housing down 45 degrees and lift up slightly to clear the pegs that stick out the bottom of the plastic housing. CAUTION : do not drop the MAF sensor $$$$

It's been a couple of years, but it might be hinged or two more clips on the top.
I do remember it's a sun-of-a-gun.

You don't have to remove the air box.

I changed mine about two months ago. There are three clips on the top, one of which is hard to see. Once they are popped I used a screwdriver to pop it loose. Did not have to remove anything else. The filter had been in there way too long and had taken a pretty good set.
Putting the new one in was a bit of a challenge.

Just clips on the top, none on bottom. You'll have to pry it around a bit.

Once you get it apart clean the MAF sensor which is that thing with the wires coming out of it.

If you use a K&N air filter make sure you don't over oil it as the oil will blow onto the MAF sensor and cause big problems.

I used a Fram filter from Walmart, about $12.00.

To get the clamps back on, I trimmed an old rachet tie down and wrapped it around so I could cinch it and get the final inside top clip to connect. It worked well and I didn't break my finger getting it down.
