I was just reading in Car & Driver. The all new 2006 version of the Duramax Diesel (No idea what makes it all new) has 360 HP and 650 lb's of torgue. It also bolts up to an all new Allison 1000 6 speed transmission.
It would seem the power war is truely on (maybe out of control) in the Diesel industry. I wonder how Cummins/Ddoge and IH will answer. Dodge may answer with a Mercedes Diesel. It sure would be awesome if any of the above powerplants with an Allison transmission were dropped in a W chassis.

There's a very informative article about the 2006 DMAX and the Allison T1K6SP. Click on the "Next" at the bottom of the page to read up on the 6 speed.
