Attached are documents that are relative to the performance of the brake fluid that is in your vehicle. The importance to keep that fluid as clean as possible during is service life is essential.
Please note the change in the
Maintenance Schedule for Gas Chassis. It stated to replace the brake fluid every 24,000 miles. I would have liked to have seen in the asterisks that the fluid should be replaced every 2 years but that language is not there. My concern is that you might easily see a five year old motorhome with less than 24,000 miles. With the new calipers and pistons resolving the previous water absorption issue the New
29502B phenolic material appears to be impervious to moisture however
DOT3 has a reputation of absorbing moisture. Although the pistons may not swell any more the performance of the fluid itself will degrade if it turns into a slurry of water an fluid. Be your own best friend and make sure when you step on the brake that your fluid will perform to 100% of it's rated performance.
Please also see the document about
Gel In The Fluid. It is like I always have said innocuous. the gel in the master cylinder is only a preservative and does not impact the operation of the master cylinder or the fluid.
The
Johnsen's Synthetic Brake Fluid that is being used in the recall isn't at all cheap. It has good properties. Please note the introduction to one of the the chapters. "All brake fluid is synthetic"
As an feature added piece not to be overlooked please review the "
Why Change Brake Fluid" at your leisure.
