I had my MH in for its 5000 mile service and in the proces the dealer changed the Allison transmission filter as I expected. However he also changed the transmission fluid. I asked why they did and the answer was they always do it at 5000 miles.

While I do not suspect this will cause a problem, what does this do the next mileage point for transmission service? My assumption is to still follow the schedule anyway.

The cost of the transmission service was nominal...Filter $10.95, fluid $3.95 per qt, plus a $5.00 environmental fee.

I believe you were had, in reading the Allison manual, the only maintenance at 5,000 is the filter.

You don't know if they changed the filter or the trans fluid but you do know you got charged.
Now a days at most dealers you can't watch what they are doing for service. "007"

But that's water under the bridge at this point.

First of all why do you people have to be so negative? What is wrong with you? Is life that bad? Well it is great for me !!

Next I was NOT HAD. Yes I know what the aintenance schedule is, but once the deal is done it is done. Yes I DO KNOW the dealer actually did the work...I saw it happen !

I'll follow my instincts from now.

FLYTYER, its good to know that you saw the dealer do your work, its not a case of being negative, as I said some people are not privleged to see dealer do the work order they have to sit in waiting room while this is going on. If anyone has doubt's put a mark on items that are to be changed so you will know it was changed, filters for one, oil levels and color etc,etc. There have been RV'ers ripped off just protect yourself thats all. We all should have a good day. "007"
