Allison transmission oil analysis?

Hopefully, I'll pick up my new to me '05 Fleetwood next week? It has 70k on it, and being a bank owned vehicle, has no service records, manuals, or nothing. But, it was very affordable. Workhorse chassis, with Allison transmission, 5 or 6 speed?

My question is, (maybe Mr Transynd will chime in?) do I..

A) Get transmission fluid analysis now, (maybe already has synthetic?) or ...

B) go ahead and do the TranSynd fluid/filters change, and get the analysis done in 12 months?

Can the analysis determine which fluid is presently in the trans? How would one identify which transmission (1000 vs:2100), just by looking at it? Used to identify model of trans, by shape of the pan, don't know about Allisons? Never had one.

Thanks in advance ~ Mike

Hello Mike,

I have been waiting for someone to chime in here as I would like to see the answers to your questions but so far no one has so I will put in my two cents.

I have a similar situation as you. We bought an 2003 Monaco just last year with 70k on it. The seller (2nd owner) had all good service records but failed to ever do any fluid or filter change and never any analysis on the MH3000 6 speed.

There is a tag on the dipstick saying it has transynd. I just bought a fluid analysis kit and I will be doing that in the spring...I want to see what the analysis says. If all comes back good then I will at the very least do a filter change. If it there a are issues then I will have some decisions to make I'm sure.

Call Blackstone Labs and they can answer your question about Transyn.

Get a flashlight and a mirror and crawl under Allison...and look for a nameplate. It will tell you what series, date of mfr., serial#. Also EFCN and TID.

Contact Allison with your serial# and they will have more info for you.

Change the oil with Transynd, do an oil analysis and never have to worry about it again. Transynd is good for 150,000+ miles. You cant beat peace of mind!
