I have a 2005 W20 Chassis The specs says that 2005 models have a six speed transmission. How can you tell?

Donald do you have the electronic 6 speed shift control, that comes standard with 6 speed. Your motorhome 05 may have been built chassis wise in 04 year before the change over. My chassis was built in Oct 02. You can put out your vin# someone can check to see if your chassis is so equip. "007"

If the 10th digit in your VIN# is 5 or less you most likely have a 5 speed. If the 10th digit is 6 or better you should have a 6-Speed transmission.

The Allison 6-Speed transmission is currently standard equipment on all 2006 model year Workhorse W20 thru W25.5 chassis. The transmission is also shipped with 100% Transynd synthetic fluid and also features the Transmission Grade Brake (TGB). The new box on the W20 & 22 is called the 1000MH and the W24 and W25.5 feature the 2100MH.

One more feature that hasn't been written about is the dual function gear position indicator. If you look in the "Command Center" you will immediately notice in the right side of the display and upper and lower number. The upper number tells you what gear you're in and the lower number tells you what gear you selected.

At this time you will be able to watch the Allison shift up through the gears as your traveling forward. It'll display 1-2-3-4-5-6 going forward and then it'll back off while decelerating.

When you use the new dash-mounted 3 position OD lock-out switch it'll immediately show you if you're in 6th, 5th or 4th gear. Neat technology also available on the 3000 and 4000 series boxes on RDPs.

Man I just have to figure some way of getting my hands on one of those W-24 or W25.5's. Just have to figure a way of getting it under my present coach so wife won't catch on. "007"
