The service interval is 4 years or 100,000 miles WCF.

Yes that's the current recommendation.

"Beginning April 6, 2005 the fluid in all AllisonTM transmissions changed to TranSyndTM ATF.
Regardless on fluid type, AllisonTM recommends replacing the spin on filter only (fluid change
is not required) after the first 5,000 miles of operation, AllisonTM/Workhorse part no.
29539579. The AllisonTM recommended service interval with Dexron® III is to change the
fluid and spin-on filter is every 25,000 miles or 12 months, whichever comes first. AllisonTM
transmissions with the synthetic fluid ATF TranSyndTM have a service interval of 4 years or
100,000 miles, whichever comes first."

What service is it that you are inquiring about? If it's to change the transmission fluid, you should already be equipped with Transynd.

Rocky,

If you AREN'T equipped with Transynd, I bought some (I want to say five quarts, but I could be way off) two years ago and Oemy put it in for me. The price for the Transynd at the time was about $110 for the amount I needed. Based on the huffing and puffing involved I'd say it would take about an hour or less for your dealer to do it.

Unless you have a streamlined oil pan, it should take right at 10 quarts. I buy mine from Allison in the gallon jugs for about $33 each. I usually buy 3 gallons. Hope this helps.

I bought Transynd off E-Bay for $129/5gal pail and free shipping. It's there all the time.
