Episode 607 – Parts Shortages Spreading, Volvo’s Outrageous EV Lease Price, VW to Buy Navistar? – Autoline Daily

Autoline Detroit report that if VW is to become the worlds largest vehicle Manufacture is needs a Large truck mfg in the US. Navistar is the target.

Das Good??

Just think of the next gen MH with a LeMon's winning Audi diesel with goobs of power while making world class fuel economy.

Sorry no Large displacement gas engines.

Well, actually.....here is a paste from your link:

""And now one analyst in Europe is saying it would make all the sense in the world if Volkswagen bought Navistar, the American company that makes big diesels and heavy trucks. Bloomberg reports that an analyst at Credit Agricole says VW wants to become the largest car and truck maker in the world, but it doesn’t have a truck presence in the American market. Credit Agricole says Veedub could buy Navistar for a little over $9 billion.""

and DAT, my friend, is a LOT of Dueschmarks!

I wonder if VW wants to get in the RV business? If not what happens to Monoco and Workhorse?

As wholly owned subsideries, they are part of what makes Navistar worth 9 billion.

If VW does not want to RV, then they would be sold off....to somebody. Maybe the
man who originally started WCC in 1999, Andrew Taite, would be interested in trying to work his magic again. "Never say never" and "business makes strange bedfellows" or two old sayings that come to mind. Ed

I understand they do!

And this is a rare spy shot of their prototype small-format, rear-engine gas pusher undergoing testing at their secret test facility.

Wholly owned subsideries are easily removed as they are not integrated with the parent company to great degree.

IBM sold Lexmark in a second and it included the intellectual property, physical property and the people. They did the same with phone system they bought in Austin, TX. But, that one got ugly as you had folks that crossed the company lines as IBM employees and then could n't get back.

When AT&T broke up in 1983, the shared facilities drew lines on the floor to mark whose territory belonged to who.

I think the 4 rounded corners are the key visual connection.

I'm very happy with driving my VW car and my FORD powered RV.
Austrian Mr. Ferdinand Piech can't get BIG enough and fast enough.
Since VOLVO is now under the control of the Chinese, he just needs another Truckmanufacturer
