I just removed one of my rear bottom Monroe Shocks today and I can push and pull it by hand, so I think they are bad. I e-mailed a place in PA and asked it the bolts and bushings came with the 557032 Monroe Gas shock, and what were the ft/lbs of both. I just got a reply and was told there is no 3/4 bolt for the top, but the bushing are included. He said the torque was 120 ft/lb for the bolt anf 215 ft/lb for the lower stem. This is far off from what Driver has said. Workhorse replaced the front shocks a year ago with the Monroe Gas shocks. When I first got the 35U Winn after the front shocks wqere replaced everything was ok. But coming home from Fl in April I though something was different and I believe it was the rear shocks. I'd like some comments on this ft/lb questions.

Dick,
I just replaced all my shocks on my MH (W-22) and I used the Monroe Gas RV. The torques are for the top bolt ,the shock to frame, I used 115 ft/lbs. My bottom was a single thread shaft that used two heavy rubber bushing. I put the top bolt on and lined up the hole and then cut the wire and guided theshock down into the hole. Don't forget to put the round metal washer and the rubber bushing on before you cut the wire holding the shock closed. The bottom torque, I just tighten the nut until the two bushing were compessed enought to fill the washers. My top bolt was 1 1/8" need a good deep well and 1/2 drive with a breaker bar and the bottom is 15/16".Hope this help.

Thanks for the reply. I just ordered the shocks from Stengel Bros. Inc. for a final price of $79.29 including shipping. I'm sure you are right about the torque. When I took the one off on the bottom today I didn't have a problem so I know they were not as tight as they said they should be. Thanks again.
