I had to replace two anti knock sensors

What do they actually do?

Retards the ignition timing when you get knock from poor gasoline. Maintains optimum efficiency.

Ron, No doubt however it's all a relative thing since we're pushing a big box down the road with approximately a ~1,000 sq feet frontal area parachute.

Why did you have them replaced? What were the symptoms?

Haven't seen anyone ever replacing them on any of the three RV forums I'm on.

I had trouble with a knock sensor code coming on and replaced mine.

My wife could hear a pinging but I couldn't Engine seemed to be running OK no lose of power. My scan gauge kept showing the anti knock code so I finally decided to have it checked.

My trip records did show a slight loss in gas mileage.

Service check found both anti knock senors bad so I had them replaced.

Back in the old, old days with older cars, we used to set the timing for just a slight ping to get the best gas mileage Does anyone remember that??

Had both sensors replaced, leave on vacation next month, so I will see if my gas mileage improves. Had a slight decrease in mileage last year.
