I have already replaced one wheel sensor about 3 months ago and now another one is probably acting up. the antilock brake light is coming on and going off again intermittently. I really have a hard time believing that this 2002 W 20 is old enough to have this keep happening. has anyone else had problems with their sensors?

Check your brake fluid in both reservoirs. I had the same problem and when I checked one of the reservoirs was low.

OK, had been sitting for about 3 weeks, but that is a long time for it to sit for us. It is out right now and it needs to go in for an oil change, so will have them look at the sensor if it comes back on. Hope that is all it is.

When I was in college I got extra credit in physics class for demonstrating the HALL effect, which is what the brake sensors are, Hall effect sensors. There is almost no way they can fail, (KEY WORD ALMOST) I would expect them to last hundreds of thousands of miles. In fact the sensors on my towed are over 200,000 miles on them just now (Well one of them, the other is newer due to a small game of freeway billiards. Idiot in the caddy put the red car in the side pocket don't you know, and fled the sceen.. Sucks to be him, my troopers paid him a nice little visit, and since he did not wish to talk with them, left him a six pack of tickets, one was six points by 300 fine, since I did not get called to testify. I assume he defaulted on them)
But the only time I've seen a brake sensor fail it was due to mechanical damage, for example, the leads were pulled right out of the housing by something.
