Has anybody out there gravity bleed their W22 brakes?

I have bleed lots of brakes with pressure from the caliper end (airplanes), pressure from the master cylinder (BMW's), good old fashion pumping/opening/closing the bleed screw and gravity.

Gravity is the simplest and cleanest, but are there any issues with the ABS system/proportion valves getting out of wack?

I don't want to create a headache, but would like to change out the fluid, so if anybody has actually done it on a W22 (or if there is a Workhorse rep. out there) let me know.

The chassis guide says the fluid should be changed, but no information as to any approved technique to be used.

Thanks-

You can do it but first you must suck the fluid out of the master cyl. and clean the sludge from the bottom of the resavore. You don't want any dirt passing through the antilock valving. refill the master cyl. and bleed as normal. Don't let the master cyl. run dry.

Hi,
I just did mine and it took around an hour or more. I used 1/4" plastic hose and a clear 2 liter bottle. Get as much fluid out of reservoir as you can. Add new Dot3 and keep full as you bleed.

The hardest part was getting two of the bleeders loose. Used WD40 on them.

Good luck

Ron
