Hello,

This subject has come across a few times and would like some clarifications as to how this Auto park system is supposed to work.

When is it supposed to automatically be applied?

I haven't had a problem with mine yet, but I have a few concerns. If I'm driving down the road and I shift the transmission into N and turn the key off, the brakes apply. Also, if I am in D and I turn the key off, the brakes apply.
My question is: Do you think the brakes would be automatically applied if I ran out of gas? That would be the only time I could see the brakes being applied at highway speeds.

Thanks in advance
Phantomiz

There are a few ways the brakes are held off (The default is brakes on by the way)

However the signal to apply them is electric, that is it's reading the switch, not the gas tank.

I do not know if engine power/vacuum is involved (Actually I do know but have forgotten for the moment) The reason I know is that elsewhere in the WORKHORSE users forum is a detailed explanaiton of just how the system works Search on "AUTO PARK" and you should find it. Along with about 1,000 other threads I fear (I do exagerate) You may wish to limit to the last year, I thik the thread started in 2007

OBTW - oldusedbear is on RV.net. If it is a J71 (older version) he can probably nail any problems the first time. If it is the J72 (current version) he his limited knowledge as does everyone else with the exception of maybe Redlands Truck.

This makes sense. So the warning would be: Do not turn the key to the off position if your rig is still rolling down the road.

Thanks for the input
