Greetings Everyone,

Although I'm new to this forum I follow the Trek Tracks forum religiously and truley enjoy sharing information about Safari Trek Motorhomes, however I've been unable to get a definative answer to my question as to whether my 04 W-20 has this Auto Park Brake I hear so much about. I crawled under the MH today and I don't see anything other than the brake drum which attaches the Allison transmission to the drive shaft. I do have a pedal actuated parking brake which must be deployed for the leveling jacks to operate. I have been told by the service manager at a workhorse service center that he didn't think my unit had the hydraulic auto park, but had to check but for he could say for certian and I havn't heard back from him. Anyone know for sure?

Thanks in advance

Yes, I am absolutely positive you do NOT have an AAPB. If you did, you would have a yellow button and NOT have the foot applied pedal.

If you have the Allison 5 speed it has a parking pawl which is heavy enough to handle the load. You have a cable operated foot brake for parking also. The GM trans did not have a parking pawl which would handle the load so the added auto-park brake.

Thanks so much for the information. I do not have a yellow button on the dash, I have an Allision 1000 5 speed transmission...BUT...I also have a red AUTO PARK indicator which comes on when I first turn on the ignition switch and goes out before I start the motor. Is it possible that is there because some of the 04 chassis had GM transmissions and some didn't?

It is more likely "there" because that IP is used in other products that are equipped with an AAPB. The W-24 chassis comes to mind, because early editions of it had a J72 AAPB.

As far as I know, ALL W-20 and heavier chassis have always had Allison 5 or 6 speed trannys, not GM 4L series. ED
