Got over to see the unit today, it does have the 5B4MP6 serial number, and a foot operated parking brake. Thanks again.
Does any number indicate which model transmission is used?

The "6" means you have either a W-20 or a W-22. BOTH of them got the Allison 1000 series tranny, either 5 or 6 speed depending on model year.

So, you are scared of the auto park brake? I'm really not as scared of it as I am of the brakes on the W20 and W22 (and maybe others) chassis. I have the W24 chassis and so far am very pleased with it. In fact, most people I talk to feel it is one of the most desirable chassis there ever was. My only wish is that I had found a 2006 that would have had the 6 speed.

It would be interesting to hear just how many have experienced problems with their AAPB. What is the typical cause, is it lack of voltage and what causes that, not just that they all have issues.

Yep so far I've had no issues either. Like someone said there wasn't any safety recalls on them.

That's correct, there has not been any recalls on Workhorse AAPB systems.
Over the years we have seen innovative solutions from 3rd party vendors. We've seen the installation of air rather than hydraulic pressure to release parking brakes. We have also seen practically indestructible Green and Brown switches for the P series Chevy and WCC motorhome chassis.

Yes and that after market kit from Brazel's I think it is, is quite pricey too.
