going to replace my shocks in a few months so I'm keeping my eye out for any deals. Having some trouble confirming the Bilstein replacements for my W24. Some sites show the W22 & W24 have the same shocks while others don't show the W24. Here are the part numbers I've found so far. I'm not worried about pricing just yet.

Try SHOX.com, I bought 4 KONI shocks at a good price for our F53.

Consider if you will the Koni FSD shock absorber. I'm sure you will glad you did. We have several happy W24 owners that made the switch and are very pleased with their decision.

I have to agree, if you can swing the extra cash, go with Koni.

Both Koni and Bilstein use the same shocks for both the 2005 W22 and W24. The Koni's will cost roughly twice the Bilstein's.

I had Bilstein's in the rear and replaced them with Koni's. It really improved the ride (still have the Bilstein's in the front, will eventually put Koni's in front also).

I had the Bilstein's on my MH when I bought it and did not like the harshness of the ride. I replaced them with Koni FSD"s with less than 12K miles and what a difference. They worked for me.

I'll definitely consider the Koni's when the time comes--I'll start price shopping early next year to see what the best deal I can get on whichever brand I go with...

I can see where you would have a better ride going from original Bilsteins to FSD's however, who has gone from original Bilsteins to "New" Bilsteins?

I understand that WCC specified a shock that was very stiff, probably to counter the porposing Monroe’s.

The current market Bilsteins are said to be much more in line with the ride of the FSD's.

Any comments?

Fred and Bonnie, I would not disagree with your statement. After market Bilsteins are valved differently than the OE versions.

I would not make this decision based purely on price. The Koni's are more expensive ($500 for 4) but well worth it. Does anyone know what the cost difference is between the new Bilstein's and the OEM version. Are both still sold and listed with different part #s. I would think that there has to be some price difference if the valving is added and compete with the FSDs.

That's what I was trying to say, I am aware the Bilsteins are valved differently.

I am hoping someone that has made the switch would respond.

Bilsteins are considerably less expensive, $85.00 per shock and yes there are different p/n for front and rear.

The Bilstein part numbers that were in your link are different part numbers then the Bilsteins that came with my 2006 Itasca. So they may have improved the performance compared to the OEM's that I had, which provided a very harsh ride. When or if I ever need to replace my Koni's I will give them some consideration but that could be many years.

I also replaced my almost new Bilstiens with the Konis and I'm very happy with the ride and handling. The shocks I removed are front 5204E5-A010HO the rears are 3005BE5-A011HO. I have a 2004 W22. If the shocks will work on your 2005 W24 you can have them for the cost of shipping.
