While I'm waiting for coach builder to call to see what we're gonna do, I'm posting some more questions. The older I get the more questions I got, wake every morning with more. BTW DriVer was right, Ride-Rites do not add to weight limits. The "can help with" list of their advertising includes ability to help w/wt, it ain't true for GVW. Forturately the total is within limits, something just gotta be relocated.
Some new ? are regarding costs of Allison 5 spd and 6 spd, Dana rear axle on W22, and 8.1 engine w/exhaust.
Driver says there isn't an affordable upgrade path on the 5&6 spd tranny. I've no doubt about that. I posted a question on the bus conversion list about compound rear ends. I know I've seen them in the distant past on buses and of course heavy pickups often have them. The purpose of a possible swap isn't for low end but to go where the 6 spd goes. I've got to call Dana anyway about the issue of moving the rig 100' of so to wet the axle seals. This was a thread on another site I've not seen here but I want the facts about. Thought I'd ask here before calling Dana.
P.S. Saving some board space. Been thing more about dash air output. Need to know the cfm of the dash heat/ac fan. It could use some more volume within limits of ac/heater to produce.

Call Gear Vendors and see if they can produce an application of their Over/Under Drive auxiliary transmission for the W22. That would effectively double your gears and would be really handy in the gaps between 1st/2nd and 2nd/3rd. 3rd/4th and 4th/5th seem fine to me as is.

Thanks Gary for the link, I'll call. The objective isn't to have more gears just to have them. With the Ultrapower the high hills are easier but extra gears could even be good there. The main reason for me is to cruise 75 mph with 60-65 rpm for economy and less stress on engine/tranny. Would like to see Brazel input on this.
BTW, I posted after you on newer member's wondering as I have about gas pusher. I really enjoy the input of seriously experienced rvers with meaningful whys and why nots. Try to ignore nay sayers

I would also be very interested in seeing what Mike from Brazel's thinks of this gear splitting additional transmission. It almost sounds like this with Brazel's super tune ECM.

I posted something the other day about differentail pinon direction. I think the way the gears spin would be the same. My take on doing an RGP would be
a.) Find a suitable HD frame preferably a 50,000 psi unit like a Workhorse.
b.) Shorten the driveshaft (a lot), spin the engine 180? on its axis and then roll it from front to back of the chassis.
Now I wonder if that'll work?

Roamer, Called Gear Pendors today and got cut off short with a "nothing like that". Take a look at my post today of chat with Dana tech. Surprised them with app. they've always just worked in power low ratio.
Jack, Agree. Think Brazels w/own dyno has just opened the door on providing what the chassis bldrs just don't want to go to.
DriVer, hurray ( **** I wish I knew how to put in these party faces) finally! Take a look here
