Have both ABS and Brake alarm on 04 w22. When was parked, there
were no alarms. Ran it the day before, no alarms. Next day both are in.
Brakes worked fine, continually stopped looking for a hot wheel, had none.
The Fluid was very thick in the res. After about 150 mi alarms became
intermitent, at about 300 went away. Had syystem flushed and new
fluid, DOT 4. Alarms came back in, and are intermitent again. No codes
on SCAN II. Brakes work great and are hard and firm after flush.

Do brake alarms have to be scanned somewhere else?

A scangauge2 will not pick up ABS codes. It will have to read by a dealer with either a TechII or someone that has Wabco software. Most likely you have a speed sensor out of adjustment. Maybe try tapping on each one and seeing if the light goes away.
