I have some questions about brake fluid and the absorption of water into it. It would seem to me that brake fluid may have a shelf life? If water gets into the closed system of our brakes will it not do the same on the shelves of the auto store? Do repair shops buy in bulk and store in conditions that condensation maybe a problem?

Brake fluid containers are sealed and normally require a tool to break an inside seal under the container's cap.

Do not use any brake fluid regardless of source if the inner seal is compromised. If you have opened and used the contents of a can of brake fluid and it has remained on the shelf for a year - this container may have absorbed moisture.
