Brake Fluid Flush

Yesterday I took everyones good advice and had my break fluid flushed and new added. All went well until we started the RV, the ABS light came on and wouldn't go off. This Tech comes to your house and does needed work on your RV. I have used him in the past and am very satisfied with his work. He had a Bosch scanner and hooked it up but it wouldn't work on my RV with the connectors he had. My RV is a Trailight by RVision W18 workhorse, if it was a W22 he had the correct connector. He called a Chevy dealer in the area and they said they could reset it for $90.00. The Tech is checking as to how much it would cost to buy the needed connector rather than drive over to the Chevy dealer. He said he will cover the cost either way. He is supposed to call me today if he gets the connector or I will have to bring it to the Chevy dealer. Has this happened to anyone else with the ABS light coming on?
My RV is a 2006 with 25,00 miles on it which I purchased new.

1. Bleed the brakes again using the 2 man method. It not uncommon for the ABS to come on during the procedure.

2. Pull all the ABS sensors, clean, add a dab of lube and reinstall them.

3. Take the rig for a short road test

I made an appointment to bring my RV in to have the ABS reset but I got about a block or two from my house and the light went off. Pulled into a parking lot turned the engine off and back on and all seems to be good. Brake pedal is strong and no light.

I suspect that you have a loose sensor. I have a procedure to R&R ABS Sensor on my FREE Tech Tips.

If your ABS light comes on in the ignition key bulb check position (key on engine off) and goes off after starting your system is working correctly. It simply reset itself.

Had my brakes flushed and fluid replaced today. My mechanic spotted a problem with my wiper motor and repaired same. Everything is ready to go except for the lousy hinging and locking system for my hood. I may reverse the opening with different marine type hinges and a lock. Will report when further along....

Angry Flushing Brake Fluid

Yesterday on Sunday I had a chance to flush the brake fluid. It was easy and felt great getting all of the brownish colored brake fluid out of the system! It took almost 4 quarts, but I made sure each brake line was full of clear fluid. It was the 2 man method (me and the wife). I supposedly had the brakes flushed out 3 years ago at my workhorse service center, but this fluid was really dirty! I tried Napa, Murray's (O'Reilly), and AutoZone and no one carried Motorcraft brake fluid, so I bought the best fluid I could find. I feel safer that it's been changed! I forgot to add that the ABS and brake light came on and beeped when I started the motorhome, but quickly went out after I stepped on the brake pedal a few times and built-up brake fluid pressure. I would assume that the sensors reset themselves at that point.

When I had my ABS light come on several times in the past, I just had to pump the pedal several times hard and it went out at about 15 MPH.

vacation on wheels, No doubt the reason is that the fluid is more expensive in comparison to other DOT3 & 4 fluids so the retailer doesn't carry an expensive product that might not move. Ya done good BTW! Just keep your fluid clean and that takes care of 95% of the battle.
