Hi:
I have waited too long to change my brake fluid, probably because I thought a low mileage unit, w22, would not need it...I have read treads but not sure if I can wife can do it. I purchased syphon and new brake fluids. Do I just do it from brake fluid container under hood? As you can read I am not a very good tech and if you respond use the KISS method for me...
Thanks

I would STRONGLY suggest that you get some help from someone that knows how to do the job!
It is not a difficult job to do but you must have the right brake fluid as well as a few simple tools to do it properly.
If it is not done properly you could end up with no brakes at all.

Bill,
The wife and I just used Oemy's 'two man' method to change/bleed our W-22 brake fluid. I found that with a set of plastic ramp blocks that allowed an extra two and a half inches of 'fat' clearance, made the job pretty easy. A creeper helps also.
After sucking out as much of the old fluid as possible from the master cylinder with an old turkey baster, we used three 32oz. bottles of DOT 3 for the job. We communicated via 2-way radios and bled with the engine off...no ABS problems/lights. The whole thing took about an hour and a half (I'm 63 and do not bend as well as I used too) and it was very doable.
I feel MUCH better now with clean, clear moisture free fluid in our W-22...and SAVED a couple hundred bucks as well! Bob

Yes, I suspect you're right. I have read here, on iRV2, that some maintenance types want that 'arm and leg' as well...I was just low ball'n a little.
The money is not my only motivation (although it sure helps when in retirement mode) for trying to do what maintenance I can. As a newbie, it helps me to understand the systems and to get personal with our RV. The more I learn, seems the more I realize there is so much more to learn! I DO like the challenge of fixing things...well, if I can FIND 'em. Also, I'm very aware that the more I can do myself, the more fuel I can put into the tank to relocate our big honk'n 'window of adventure' to places we've not been before! THERE'S some motivation for ya! Bob
