While ispecting the underside of the coach, I noticed a grease fitting on the upper inside of the caliper. Does anyone have any idea as to why this fitting is there?

Also, the caliper pins are accessible from the inside of the wheels. Is there any reason they couldn't be lubricated without pulling the wheels?

Adj, I'm guessing that you are looking at the bleeder valve... NOTHING goes IN there.. It is for bleeding air and brake fluid from the braking system only. Amazingly, over the years I have seen/heard of folks modifying that piece in an effort to "lube" it.It does look rather like a "Zerk" but it definatly is not...rgr ...

Yep, I would agree with rgr that you're looking at a bleeder screw on the caliper.

As far as lubing the caliper slides without pulling the wheels, I think that's a very good question and actually wondered the same thing myself.

I suspect if you took one slide bolt out at a time you could effectively lube each one with the wheel in place. It is a recommended maintenance, but removing a wheel from the MH requires A LOT of effort! And a really BIG torque wrench to re-tighten those lugs.

Thanks for the come-back rgr and Horsepowerfan. My mind went to "DUH!" when you mentioned the bleeder valve. A little egg on my face!

I am going to check with the Monaco tech reps concerning the caliper slides. I'd check with Workhorse but they don't seem to have a tech department.

No egg, years ago at a Buick dealer, I have occasionally seen folks replace the bleeders with zerks as they thought the bleeders were clogged zerks.. They are different threads, but a determined owner can make em fit...rgr...

The TAC does not have a general website for owners. The TAC's responsibility is to provide direct technical support to dealers with both live and Internet resources.

Others have mentioned about the bleeder valve so I won't go there but are you sure that you only want to lube the guide pins and not the other machined sufaces that require a dab of caliper grease? I know it is a pain to pull the wheels but a job worth doing....

A stuck caliper was one of the two items on the short list of what caused my P32 to burn to a total loss.
